Define No-Kill

The term “no-kill” refers to a shelter or pound facility that does not destroy animals simply to make space for new intakes. Typically these organizations will have a live release rate of at least 97%.

The true spirit of no-kill does not involve warehousing or hoarding animals, allowing sick or injured animals to suffer when euthanasia is indicated by a veterinarian, nor does it provide sanctuary for violent or aggressive animals.
